The Harbwr - Supporting Learning
Learning in The Harbwr is carefully designed to be flexible, engaging and meaningful, recognising that children learn in different ways and at different rates. Our bespoke curriculum is built around individual needs, guided by each child's IDP, and aligned with the Curriculum for Wales to ensure a balanced and purposeful learning experience.
We use a wide range of targeted interventions to support learning, including:
- Speech and Language interventions, embedded throughout the day to support communication, understanding and expressive language
- Attention Autism sessions to develop shared attention, focus, enjoyment and readiness to learn
- Bucket time to build early listening skills, anticipation and engagement
- Individualised literacy and numeracy interventions that build confidence and success step by step
Learning takes place through structured teaching, play-based activities and real-life experiences, helping children make meaningful connections. Where appropriate, pupils are supported to join mainstream lessons or activities, allowing them to apply their skills in a wider setting while still benefiting from specialist support.
